A true teacher’s teacher, Michael is dedicated to sharing the wisdom of the practice with thoughtfulness and care. Uncompromising in his belief that yoga is a practice with purpose, Michael’s teachings prioritise both form and feeling, function and philosophy.
In life, Michael believes how you do anything is how you do everything, and in yoga it’s no different. With a background in vinyasa, power yoga, vinyasa krama, hatha, katonah, restorative, yin, breathwork and meditation, Michael is recognised as a leading voice in modern yoga with a dedicated focus in guiding and inspiring the next generation of teachers. His teachings are clear, precise and intentional, an intersection of dedication and discovery.
He is the founder of Krama Yoga—a system that honours the intersection of breath, movement, and meaning where the process is as valued as the outcome, and every practice is an invitation to move with intention, attention and connection.
Over the past two decades, Michael’s impact as a teacher has been internationally recognised as a teacher, author, speaker and trusted mentor sharing workshops, talks and trainings throughout Europe, Asia, America, Middle East & Australia/New Zealand. His captivating ability to share his teaching en masse has seen him become one of the most well-loved and tenured teachers for Wanderlust Festival (US/UK/Europe/Australia), Balance Festival (UK) & Yoga Games (Sweden).
Born in New Zealand and raised in Los Angeles, Michael now lives in London with his young family and his dog, Gus. He is a 500-hour ERYT Senior Teacher, YACEP trainer and CPD certified instructor.
He is also the founder of Just Breathe, an organisation dedicated to your mind and mental health with a digital studio and mindfulness app for meditation, breathwork & deep rest, Michael’s unwavering commitment to bringing mindfulness into the real world is shared through his books, online courses and meditation & breathwork teacher training programmes.
At the heart of it all, Michael’s teachings are simple, Yoga is a practice with purpose.
